Dear Assata,
Thank you for your unwavering commitment to the people. Thank you for struggling for the unrecognized rights that all human beings deserve. Thank you for being a true model of endurance and perseverance. Thank you for showing love when all amerika taught you was to hate.
I'm sorry that people do not recognize you for who you are: a phenomenal woman. I'm sorry that amerika denied you the basic rights that I take for granted. I'm sorry that you are called a villain and criminal.
I wish I could change the narrative surrounding your legacy. You have inspired me in so many ways, and others deserve to hear your messages. I hope to amplify your voice; I hope to spread your love. I promise I will try.
